ASCP MLT Programs: How to Verify Education Docs?

The ASCP Board of Certification demands that applicants verify all their education, experience, and training docs before applying for the ASCP MLT programs.

Verification of documentation is necessary whether you are a U.S. or non-U.S. lab professional.

ASCP MLT Programs: How to Verify Academic Certificates?

For United States Candidates

Verifying Academic Education From an ABHES, CAAHEP, or Accredited NAACLS Program

The education from getting CAAHEP, ABHES, and NAACLS program is only valid for 5 years from the date of completion.

The program director must verify (electronically) that the student has successfully completed all the programs.

It must be done before applying for the ASCP MLT programs.

It is the student’s responsibility to submit the official transcript to ASCP BOC to show that he/she met all education requirements.

If you have gotten their NAACLS program outside of the U.S., You must contact the program director to get appropriate documentation.

Coursework Requirements

  • The courses completed as part of your approved program will be considered toward any required biology or chemistry coursework.
  • To meet your college coursework requirements, you have to  get 100 level or above courses
  • For academic requirements, a degree with passing grades is necessary.
  • If your official transcript has the use of “Pass,” it can be used as an alternative to a passing grade.

Note: The above rules are also valid for verifying academic education from an approved institution within the U.S. or Canada.

For International Candidates

Verifying Academic Education from an Approved Institution Outside of the U.S. and Canada

If a degree, college credits, or high school graduation, obtained from outside of the United States or Canada, degree evaluation is vital.

The degree evaluation must be done by an authorized evaluation agency for foreign transcripts.

To be eligible for MLT ASCP certification your transcript evaluation (foreign) must:

  • Be get from a transcript evaluation agency like:
    • International Consultants Delaware
    • International Evaluation Services
  • This transcript evaluation agency must send transcript evaluation to ASCP BOC directly
  • It must come with the statements of “U.S. education equivalency”
  • Be original
  • If the original is not available. It must be a certified copy (photocopy of the original transcript evaluation signed & stamped by the agency).

Note: These rules are for ASCP MLT programs’ international applicants/U.S. candidates who obtained their education degree outside of the U.S. or Canada.
