ASCP MLS Route 3: Eligibility Requirement

Many routes, including ASCP MLS Route 3 are specified by the ASCP Board of Certification for the ASCP medical lab scientist certificate.

To get the MLS ASCP certificate, you have to meet the minimum requirements of at least one route out of 6 for U.S. candidates and 5 for international candidates.

ASCP MLS Route 3: Eligibility Requirements for U.S Candidates

• The ASCP BOC has refused the ASCP MLS Route 3 requirements, which were CLA ASCP (Clinical Laboratory Assistant) certification, as of January 1, 2023.
• At this current time, there are no new requirements uploaded by the ASCP board for this ASCP MLS Route 3 route.

International Candidates Eligibility Requirements: ASCPi MLS Route 3

• Baccalaureate degree from an approved college or university in the relevant subject.
• Two years of Medical Laboratory Science program in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, & blood banking.

Special Note

• Your educational institution (college/university) must be authorized by the Ministry or governing regulatory association.
• If the country is without any prevalent system, your educational institution must be accredited by the International Advisory Board appointed by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC).
• Or acceptable transcript evaluation required to determine your eligibility
• The international degree (foreign) must be equal to a U.S. degree.
