What is MLS (ASCP) CM? Overview
The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) not only awards certification to lab professionals but also sticks with them through CMP lifelong.
What is the CMP?
The CMP represents the Credential Maintenance Program.
Do you know that your MLS ASCP certificate only stays with you for three years of earning it?
Afterward, it will expire, and you do not continue your practice with it.
The MLS CMP will revive your degree for the next three years upon successfully processing its procedure.
Once you subdue the ASCP certification renewal process by meeting all its requirements, your degree will display as MLS (ASCP) CM.
What is MLS (ASCP) CM: Eligibility Conditions?
To renew your ASCP MLS credential, you have to acquire 36 points.
The ASCP BOC specifies some areas for obtaining these points.
These areas include
- Areas of specialization (chemistry, blood bank, hematology, & micro): 2 points in each; total 8 credits.
- Laboratory/patient safety: 1 point
- Medical ethics: 1 point

What is the MLS (ASCP) CM Application Process?
- Your first step is to open your account by login
- Next, you must check your credential current status by exploring the section “Check Progress” under “My Education.”
- Consider your ASCP and non-ASCP credits.
- If you have met all your prerequisites, you will be prompted to send a CMP declaration.
- The best time to submit your declaration is at least three months before your certification expiration.
- Upon successful completion of your process, you will get a 3 year recertification notification for your ASCP MLS.
What is MLS (ASCP) CM Application Cost?
To apply for the CMP at the right time, you have to pay $100.
However, your CMP application fee will be $135 if you fail to submit your declaration on time.
If you have multiple certifications with the same expiration date (within 3 months), you will receive a discount of $20.
How to Get MLS (ASCP) CM Points?
There are two ways to add the MLS (ASCP)CM points to your ASCP transcript: ASCP and Non-ASCP.

Non- ASCP
