In 2009, the ASCP started its MT certification transition process and merged with the NCA (National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel).
Now its MT (ASCP) certification has been converted to the ASCP MLS (Medical Lab Specialist).
To get this certificate, you have to meet some eligibility requirements (6 routes for the U.S. & five for international; meeting one is crucial) that may be

To achieve the MT (AMT) certification, you must be experts in the general laboratory, chemistry, hematology, coagulation and hemostasis, immunology & serology, immunohematology, blood banking & transfusion services, microbiology, and urinalysis/other body fluids.
To meet its eligibility requirements, the AMT board determines four paths.
The applicant is responsible for meeting at least one path requirement.
The application fee for this exam is $235 and the exam duration is 3.5 hours.
Like ASCP certification, the MT (AMT) certificate is only valid for three years.
It presents three renewal options, including the annual membership (the application fee is $110), renewal by exam (the fee is $310), and recertification by the CCP (the fee is $310).
