To get the ASCP Foundation Laboratory Students Scholarships, you have to meet the following requirements:
- Must have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- You must enroll in one program from ABHES, CAAHEP, or NAACLS-approved laboratory science.
- 50-week medical lab training program sponsored by the U.S. military.
- NAACLS-approved phlebotomy training program or clinical assistant program
- Phlebotomy program offered by California Department of Public Health.
- A structured training program that fulfills the ASCP BOC structured training program eligibility requirements( PBT ASCP route and MLA route 6)
Garza & Becan-McBride Endowed Phlebotomy Student Scholarships
This scholarship is specially offered for phlebotomists; it is up to $1,000.
Two ASCP members, Diana “Didi” Garza, EdD, MLS(ASCP)CM, and Kathleen Becan McBride, EdD, MASCP, MLS(ASCP)CM, offer this scholarship through the ASCP Foundation to support the phlebotomist.
Application Requirements
- Phlebotomists must have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Must have 50% training in the California Department of Public Health phlebotomy program, phlebotomy training program approved by NAACLS, or structured training program that is relevant to ASCP structured programs (Phlebotomy Route 2).
Leadership Institute Scholarship
The Leadership Institute scholarship helps professionals and pathologists to learn and improve their leadership skills.
Every year, the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) chooses high-achieving laboratory professionals and pathologists to enroll in the Leadership Institute Certificate Program and attend coaching of five hours (Five coaching sessions each of one hour) from ASCP’s team of leadership professionals.
Eligibility Requirements
- Active ASCP membership
- Laboratory science work experience that must be 5-7 years
- Past leadership experience (personally 0r professionally)
ASCP Resident Forensic Rotation Awards
The ASCP BOC has partnerships with the National Institutes of Justice and George Mason University to offer amazing opportunities to pathology residents in the forensics subspecialty.
These awards are offered to pathologists to expand their knowledge and skills in subspecialty areas.
This program is held for one month and selected pathologists get $6,000 to meet their education expenses.

Dr. Alvin Ring Empowerment Scholarship for Laboratory Professionals
The Dr. Alvin Ring Empowerment Scholarship for Laboratory Professionals is established with the cooperation of ASCP.

- Associate of Applied Science Degree or Associate of Science Degree, the student must be interested in getting a higher degree from NAACLS-authorized MLS or MLT programs.
- Bachelor of Science Degree (Senior year), candidates are interested in earning the MLS program higher degree from NAACLS.
- Bachelor, Associate, or high-school of science degree, and the candidate must have aim of specialization by getting the HTL, MLS, MLT, MLA, or PBT programs approved by NAACLS-accredited
STEM Student Scholarship
This scholarship is for those students who want to get higher degrees in life or medical science.
